Welcome to the DIBS Lab webpage!

The Developmental Investigations of Behavior and Strategy (DIBS) Lab is led by Dr. Alex Shaw, who became an Assistant Professor in Psychology at the University of Chicago in 2015. The DIBS Lab is part of the University of Chicago’s Center for Early Childhood Research.

Research in the DIBS Lab is focused on children’s developing understanding of reputation. We are interested in how children track other people’s reputations and how children modify their own behavior to improve their own reputation. We have three main lines of work investigating three related topics: fairness, alliance formation, and intellectual property. Please explore our website to learn more about us!

NEW STUDIES ONLINE

Currently, the studies at the DIBS lab are focused on fairness, resource distribution, and how kids interact with technology. We are currently running studies with children ages 5-10.
